თბილისი დუბაი

If you are looking for Tbilisi – Dubai flight tickets and planning the trip you have been dreaming about, this article will give you plenty of useful information. Below we answer the questions that always come up when you start booking.

There is hardly a traveller who has never dreamed of seeing this fairy-tale city. Dubai is without doubt one of the most popular destinations in the world, and it is almost impossible to come home from it without unforgettable memories.

Which airlines fly from Tbilisi to Dubai?

Tbilisi Dubai flight tickets

Non-stop flights to Dubai from Tbilisi International Airport are operated by Flydubai. Flydubai has been serving this route for years and is the most popular carrier on the Tbilisi–Dubai air link, flying to Dubai every single day.

You can also head towards Dubai with Air Arabia. Air Arabia does not land at Dubai International Airport itself, but if you fly from Tbilisi to Sharjah you can reach Dubai by road in a fairly short time.

Besides the non-stop option, you can also fly from Tbilisi to Dubai with a connection. Turkish Airlines flies this route with a change at Istanbul Airport.

Pegasus also offers flights from Tbilisi towards Dubai, transiting through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Which airline offers the cheapest Tbilisi – Dubai tickets?

The most budget-friendly fares usually come from Air Arabia. You will also find low prices on Pegasus flights.

How long is the Tbilisi – Dubai flight?

The non-stop flight on the Tbilisi – Dubai route takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes according to the airline’s current timetable. With a connection, the total journey time depends on how long you wait at the transfer airport.

When is the best time to travel to Dubai?

Travellers most often name September and April as the best months. In these periods the weather is sunny but not yet unbearably hot, which makes sightseeing genuinely enjoyable.

The cheapest time to travel to Dubai is between May and August, although temperatures then can be so high that spending time outdoors becomes difficult.

How to find cheap Tbilisi – Dubai tickets

  1. Book your tickets 1.5–2 months in advance.
  2. Choose a midweek departure rather than a weekend: demand is lower on working days, so fares are usually cheaper.
  3. Buy both directions at once. Airlines and agencies normally offer better prices for a return ticket than for two one-way tickets bought separately.
  4. Use a search engine that brings together almost every airline and flight, so you can find and book the right ticket more easily.

Tbilisi – Dubai: non-stop flights and airports

From Tbilisi you can reach three airports in the United Arab Emirates without any connection:

  • Dubai International Airport (DXB) — Flydubai flies here daily and, on the current timetable, operates 14 flights a week, that is two a day. Tbilisi flights are handled at Terminal 2 of DXB, but always double-check the terminal on your boarding pass before you travel.
  • Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) — Air Arabia also operates daily flights. Sharjah is roughly 30 kilometres from central Dubai.
  • Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi (AUH) — Air Arabia Abu Dhabi operates about five flights a week. Abu Dhabi is around 140 kilometres from Dubai.

If your time is limited, the non-stop flight to DXB is the most comfortable choice. If budget matters more, the Sharjah and Abu Dhabi flights are often cheaper — just factor in the extra time and cost of getting from the airport into Dubai.

Visas and documents for Georgian travellers

Citizens of Georgia do not need to arrange a visa in advance for a short tourist stay in the United Arab Emirates. At passport control you will normally be asked for:

  • a biometric passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival;
  • a return or onward ticket;
  • a hotel booking or the address of your host.

Entry rules change from time to time, so check the current requirements with your airline or with the Emirati diplomatic mission a few days before departure.

Baggage and fare types: what a cheap ticket really includes

Flydubai and Air Arabia are low-cost carriers, and their lowest fare usually covers hand baggage only. Flydubai offers three economy fares:

  • Lite — no checked baggage;
  • Value — 20 kg of checked baggage;
  • Flex — 30 kg of checked baggage and more flexible conditions for changing your dates.

With Air Arabia the allowance also depends on the fare you choose. So when you compare two offers, always look at the final price — with baggage, seat selection and, if you need it, an onboard meal.

When to fly: seasons and weather

  • November to March — Dubai’s high season. Daytime temperatures sit at roughly 20–28°C and the sea is warm, but flights and hotels are at their most expensive.
  • April and October — the shoulder months: the weather is still comfortable while prices are below their peak.
  • June to August — the cheapest period, but temperatures often pass 40°C and being outdoors during the day is hard going. This time suits travellers who plan to spend it in malls, museums and by the hotel pool.

Keep Ramadan in mind separately — its dates shift every year, and during this period some restaurants and attractions keep different hours.

Getting from the airport into the city

The Red Line of the Dubai Metro serves Terminals 1 and 3 of DXB directly. Terminal 2, where the Tbilisi flights operate, has no metro station of its own — the nearest is Airport Free Zone on the Green Line, which you can reach by bus or taxi. Taxis wait right outside the terminal and will get you to the city centre in roughly 15–25 minutes.

From Sharjah and Abu Dhabi you can continue to Dubai by bus, by a pre-booked transfer or by taxi; when planning your route, add an extra hour or two to your arrival time.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct flight from Tbilisi to Dubai?
Yes. Flydubai flies the Tbilisi–Dubai route every day, and the flight takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

How far in advance should I buy my ticket?
On this route the best fares are usually available 1.5–3 months before departure. In the high season, from November to March, it pays to book even earlier.

Is there a time difference between Georgia and Dubai?
No. Both Georgia and the United Arab Emirates are on UTC+4, so jet lag is practically a non-issue on this route.

Which currency should I take?
The local currency is the dirham (AED). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but cash still comes in handy at the markets and in some taxis.

Sharjah and Abu Dhabi tickets are cheaper — are they worth it?
Often yes, especially if you are travelling with hand baggage only. Just do the maths: make sure the transfer from the airport to Dubai, plus the extra hour or two, does not eat up what you saved on the ticket.

Minsk – Tbilisi route at a glance

  • Departure airport: Minsk National Airport (code MSQ), about 40 km from the city centre.
  • Arrival airport: Tbilisi International Airport (code TBS), around 17 km from central Tbilisi.
  • Distance: approximately 1,900 km as the crow flies.
  • Aircraft: Belavia mainly uses mid-size Embraer jets on this route.
  • Time difference: Tbilisi is one hour ahead of Minsk, so a late-evening departure lands in Georgia at night or early in the morning.

Keep an eye on schedule changes

As things stand today, non-stop flights between Minsk and Tbilisi are operated by Belavia, several times a week, with the exact frequency depending on the season. Airline schedules on this route have changed more than once over the years, so always check the current timetable and availability for your dates before you buy.

Connecting flights from Minsk to Tbilisi

If the timing or the price of the direct flight does not work for you, you can also travel with a connection. Such itineraries are often routed via Istanbul, Yerevan or Dubai. A connecting trip naturally takes longer, but it can sometimes be noticeably cheaper. Before booking, check:

  • how much time you have for the connection – anything under two hours is risky;
  • whether your baggage is checked through to the final destination or has to be collected and re-checked in transit;
  • whether you need a transit visa or permission to leave the airport.

When are tickets cheapest?

Demand on the Minsk – Tbilisi route peaks in summer and around the New Year and spring holidays, and that is exactly when fares are highest. Cheaper tickets are usually easier to find in late autumn and in the winter months outside the holiday period. If your dates are flexible, compare several neighbouring days – shifting your departure by a day or two often brings the price down noticeably.

Visas, documents and useful tips

  • Georgian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Belarus, and Belarusian citizens can enter Georgia visa-free. Border rules do change, however, so check the current requirements before you fly.
  • Foreign nationals entering Belarus are normally required to hold valid medical insurance.
  • Make sure your passport is valid well beyond the end of your trip.
  • Hand and checked baggage allowances depend on the fare you choose. The cheapest fares often include cabin baggage only, so factor the cost of a checked bag into your price comparison.
  • The national currency of Belarus is the Belarusian rouble, while payments in Georgia are made in Georgian lari.

Important update — as of 2026

Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil aviation since 24 February 2022, and there are currently no direct flights between Kyiv and Tbilisi. The airline information below describes how this route worked before 2022 — it is still worth reading, because it shows which carriers are most likely to come back once the airspace reopens. Today, getting from Kyiv to Tbilisi means a combined journey: overland to a neighbouring country, and then a flight on to Georgia. The up-to-date routes, money-saving tips and frequently asked questions are in the second half of this article.

Planning to buy your Kyiv–Tbilisi air tickets online but not sure where to start? Then read this article: it gathers everything worth knowing about the route and makes planning your trip much easier.

Which airlines fly from Kyiv to Tbilisi?

Kyiv Tbilisi flights

The choice of airlines on this route has traditionally been wide, letting you pick a departure time that suits you and a fare that fits your budget.

The carrier with the longest history on the Kyiv–Tbilisi route is FlyUIA. Ukraine International Airlines flew from Boryspil to Tbilisi International Airport.

The second Ukrainian carrier on the route is SkyUp Airlines. Like FlyUIA, SkyUp also served Tbilisi International Airport from Boryspil.

The airline that joined Georgian skies in 2021 is Bees Airlines. Bees Airlines is one of Ukraine’s most budget-friendly carriers. Unlike the two airlines above, it flew to Tbilisi from Zhuliany airport.

Which airline offered the cheapest Kyiv–Tbilisi tickets?

As mentioned above, Bees Airlines is a low-cost carrier, and it was therefore the airline with the lowest fares on this route.

How long is the flight from Kyiv to Tbilisi?

The flying time between Kyiv and Tbilisi is 2 hours and 40 minutes.

How to buy cheap air tickets from Kyiv to Tbilisi

  1. Book your tickets 1.5–2 months ahead.
  2. Travel midweek rather than at the weekend — demand is lower on working days, so fares tend to be cheaper.
  3. Buy both directions at the same time. Airlines and agencies usually price a return ticket better than two separate one-way tickets.
  4. Use a search engine that brings almost every airline and flight together in one place, so that finding and booking the right ticket is simpler.

You can buy Kyiv–Tbilisi tickets online easily and comfortably through our search engine. Simply choose your departure and destination cities, enter the dates you want, and the system will show you every available flight so you can pick the fare that fits your budget.

How to travel from Kyiv to Tbilisi today

Since there is no direct flight at the moment, the journey has two stages.

Stage one — overland out of Ukraine. From Kyiv you travel by train or bus to a city in a neighbouring country that has a working airport. Poland is the most popular option: the Kyiv–Warsaw train takes around 16–17 hours, while Kyiv–Przemyśl takes about 10–14 hours, from where a Polish domestic train gets you to Warsaw easily. The alternatives are Moldova (Kyiv–Chișinău, around 17 hours), Hungary (Kyiv–Budapest, around 20 hours) and Austria (Kyiv–Vienna, around 23 hours).

Stage two — the flight to Georgia. From the city you have chosen you fly on to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. This is the leg where the price can vary the most, which is exactly where all the tips listed earlier in this article pay off.

Where you can fly to Georgia from

Warsaw is currently the best connecting hub, because among Ukraine’s neighbouring countries it is the only city with direct flights to Georgia:

  • Warsaw (Chopin, WAW) – Tbilisi (TBS): LOT Polish Airlines, roughly six flights a week, about 3 hours 40 minutes in the air.
  • Warsaw (Chopin, WAW) – Kutaisi (KUT): Wizz Air, daily, about 3 hours 30 minutes. From Kutaisi it is a further 3.5–4 hours by bus or transfer to Tbilisi.

There are currently no direct flights to Tbilisi from Chișinău, Budapest or Bucharest — from those cities the trip involves one stop, for example via Istanbul or Warsaw. Schedules change from season to season, so always check the current flights for your dates in our search engine.

What to keep in mind when planning the route

  • The tickets are separate. Your train or bus ticket and your air ticket are not linked. If the overland leg runs late, the airline will not rebook you onto another flight free of charge. Leave yourself a buffer — ideally spend at least one night in the departure city before your flight.
  • Border crossings take time. Checks on the Ukraine–Poland border can take several hours at peak times. Train timetables already allow for this, but delays are still common.
  • Train tickets sell out fast. Ukrainian Railways tickets go on sale well before departure and disappear quickly on popular routes. It is best to book the train and the flight on the same day.
  • Baggage. Wizz Air’s basic fare includes only a small under-seat bag; cabin and checked baggage cost extra. LOT’s economy fares normally include cabin baggage, while checked baggage depends on the fare type. Always add the baggage cost before you compare prices.
  • Two airports in Georgia. Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) is close to the capital, while Kutaisi’s David the Builder airport (KUT) often has cheaper tickets but adds a 3.5–4 hour journey to Tbilisi.

Documents

Ukrainian citizens do not need a visa to enter Georgia, and Georgian citizens can enter Ukraine visa-free. Because the route passes through an EU country, keep the Schengen rules in mind too: holders of biometric passports from both Ukraine and Georgia may stay in the Schengen area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Requirements change over time, so check the consular information for the relevant country before you travel.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct Kyiv–Tbilisi flight?

No. Ukrainian airspace is closed to civil aviation, so no direct flights operate.

How long does the whole journey take?

Realistically 1.5 to 2 days: about 16–17 hours by train from Kyiv to Warsaw, the time needed for the connection, and roughly 3.5 hours in the air to Georgia.

What is the cheapest option?

Usually a train or bus to Warsaw and a Wizz Air flight to Kutaisi with the minimum baggage package. If comfort matters more, the direct Warsaw–Tbilisi flight is the better choice.

Can the whole route be booked on a single ticket?

The overland and air legs are not normally sold as one ticket. The flight has to be booked separately — our search engine and our operators will help you with that.

When will Ukrainian airspace reopen?

No date has been announced. Preparations for restoring air travel are under way, but there is still no official date for flights resuming. Once the airspace opens, the Kyiv–Tbilisi flight will again take around 2 hours and 40 minutes.

How to reach Kyiv today — the routes that work

The journey comes in two parts: a flight from Georgia to a country bordering Ukraine, then an overland leg — train or bus — to Kyiv.

Step 1 — the flight from Georgia

  • Warsaw (WAW) — LOT Polish Airlines flies non-stop from Tbilisi International Airport; the flight takes around 4 hours. From Kutaisi International Airport, Wizz Air serves Warsaw, Katowice and Poznań, and these routes often carry the lowest fares.
  • Chisinau (RMO) — FlyOne operates between Tbilisi and the Moldovan capital; the flight takes roughly 3 hours.
  • Budapest, Vienna and Bucharest — alternative hubs with direct trains or buses on to Kyiv.

Step 2 — the train to Kyiv

Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) runs regular international services from Europe. Approximate journey times:

  • Warsaw – Kyiv: about 16–17 hours (overnight service)
  • Przemyśl – Kyiv: about 10 hours
  • Chełm – Kyiv: about 12 hours
  • Chisinau – Kyiv: about 17 hours
  • Budapest – Kyiv: about 20 hours
  • Vienna – Kyiv: about 23 hours

Tickets are sold on the Ukrainian Railways website and mobile app and normally go on sale around 20 days before departure. Popular services sell out quickly, so plan your booking ahead.

Step 3 — the bus, as an alternative

  • Warsaw – Kyiv: about 16–18 hours
  • Vienna or Berlin – Kyiv: about 23–25 hours
  • Prague – Kyiv: about 24 hours

Buses run to a more flexible schedule and are often cheaper, but waiting times at the border can be considerably longer than by train.

Practical tips before you travel

  • Border formalities by train usually take between 30 minutes and 2 hours; by bus the wait can stretch to several hours.
  • Carry your passport and some cash, including Ukrainian hryvnia.
  • Check which border crossings are open before you set off — the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service publishes this information.
  • Read your own foreign ministry’s travel advice for Ukraine, and bear in mind that standard travel insurance often excludes the country.
  • Flight, train and bus schedules change frequently — confirm everything directly with the carrier shortly before departure.

Which airline offers the cheapest tickets?Istanbul Tbilisi

Pegasus Airlines and AJet usually offer cheaper fares than Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines, on the other hand, gives its passengers the best service and the most comfortable journey.

Which airports do the flights depart from?

Pegasus Airlines and AJet operate from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, while Turkish Airlines flies from Istanbul Airport, the city’s newer main hub.

How long is the Istanbul – Tbilisi flight?

A direct flight from Istanbul to Tbilisi takes only about 2 hours and 15-20 minutes.

How to buy cheap Istanbul Tbilisi tickets online

  1. Book your tickets 1.5-2 months before departure.
  2. Choose a midweek departure rather than a weekend, because demand for travel is lower on working days and tickets are cheaper.
  3. Buy both legs of your journey at the same time. Airlines and agencies usually offer better prices for a return ticket than for two one-way tickets bought separately.
  4. Use a search engine that brings together almost every airline and flight, so that you can find and book the ticket you want more easily.

Flight schedule and frequency on the Istanbul – Tbilisi route

Istanbul – Tbilisi is one of the busiest air routes serving Georgia, and several direct flights operate every day:

  • Turkish Airlines – flies from Istanbul’s main airport (IST) roughly four times a day, with more than 25 flights per week.
  • Pegasus Airlines – flies from Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), with three to four flights a day.
  • AJet – also flies from Sabiha Gokcen, with about one flight a day.

Please note that the airline AnadoluJet has operated under the name AJet since 2024. It is still the low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. Schedules change with the season, so always check the exact times before you buy.

How far is Tbilisi from Istanbul?

The distance between the two cities is roughly 1,300-1,350 kilometres by air. A direct flight covers it in about 2 hours and 20 minutes, and the flight time is almost identical from either Istanbul airport.

Time difference between Turkey and Georgia

Georgia is one hour ahead of Turkey (Georgia is UTC+4, Turkey UTC+3). Keep this in mind when you read a timetable: the arrival time printed on your ticket is already Tbilisi local time, so a flight of 2 hours and 20 minutes looks like about 3 hours and 20 minutes in the schedule.

Baggage rules – what to watch out for

  • With low-cost carriers (Pegasus, AJet) the cheapest fare often includes hand luggage only – checked baggage is a paid extra.
  • Adding baggage online, in advance, is almost always cheaper than paying for it at the airport check-in desk.
  • Most Turkish Airlines economy fares already include checked baggage, although the exact allowance depends on the fare you choose.
  • Always check how many kilograms your fare includes before you buy – a “cheap” ticket often ends up more expensive once baggage is added.

How to get from Tbilisi Airport to the city centre

Tbilisi International Airport is about 17 kilometres from the city centre.

  • Bus No. 337 – the cheapest option. The route passes through Freedom Square and ends at Station Square; the journey takes about an hour and you can pay by card.
  • Ride-hailing taxi (Bolt, for example) – usually around 25-35 GEL to the centre, 30-45 minutes on the road, available around the clock.
  • Pre-booked transfer – convenient for night arrivals or when you are travelling as a family with a lot of luggage.

Prices and timetables change from time to time, so it is worth checking them before you fly.

Frequently asked questions

Are there direct flights from Istanbul to Tbilisi every day?

Yes. The route is served daily and several direct flights are available each day.

Which Istanbul airport should I choose?

If you fly with Turkish Airlines you will depart from Istanbul Airport (IST); with Pegasus and AJet you will depart from Sabiha Gokcen (SAW). The two airports are on opposite sides of the city, on different shores of the Bosphorus, so allow enough time for the transfer across Istanbul.

When are tickets cheapest?

As a rule, the best prices are found in the low season and on weekday departures. For high season – summer and the New Year period – it is better to book several months ahead.

Can I change my ticket after booking?

Change and refund conditions depend on the fare. The cheapest promotional tickets are often non-refundable, so read the fare rules carefully before you buy.

How to book cheap Tbilisi Istanbul air tickets?

  1. Buy your air tickets 1.5-2 months in advance.
  2. Choose a midweek departure rather than a weekend, because demand for travel is lower on working days and air tickets are cheaper.
  3. Book both directions at once. Airlines and agencies tend to offer better prices for a return ticket than for two one-way tickets bought separately.
  4. Use a search engine that brings together almost every airline and flight, so that you can find and book the ticket you want with far less effort.

When is the best time to travel to Istanbul?

If you are looking for a calm, budget-friendly trip, the best periods to fly to Istanbul are March to May and September to November. These months are not considered peak travel season, so the city is less crowded, hotel rates are comparatively low and the temperature is pleasant.

High season in Istanbul runs from June until the end of August. Demand is high during this period, and so are the prices.

The cheapest period falls between December and February, although Istanbul’s rainy, snowy and cold weather will not let you enjoy the city to the full.

Istanbul has two airports: which one should you choose?

Istanbul has two international airports, and there are direct flights from Tbilisi to both of them. Before you buy a ticket, always check which airport you will land at, because it directly affects how much time and money you will spend getting to the city centre.

Istanbul Airport (IST) is located on the European side of the city, in the Arnavutkoy district. This is where Turkish Airlines operates. The airport is linked to the centre by the M11 metro line (Istanbul Havalimani to Gayrettepe) and by HAVAIST buses.

Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) sits on the Asian side, roughly 32 kilometres from the centre. Pegasus Airlines and AJet fly here. Since October 2022 the metro reaches the airport as well, via the M4 line (Kadikoy to Sabiha Gokcen), and HAVABUS shuttle buses also run to the city.

If your hotel is on the European side (Sultanahmet, Taksim, Beyoglu), IST is the more convenient option; if you are staying on the Asian side (Kadikoy, Pendik), choose SAW.

AnadoluJet is now called AJet

In 2024 AnadoluJet, the low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, was rebranded and continued operating under the name AJet. In other words, if you cannot find AnadoluJet while searching, look for AJet instead: it is the same carrier that flies to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

Documents: what Georgian citizens need to travel to Turkey

Citizens of Georgia do not need a visa to enter Turkey. A stay of up to 90 days is visa free, and you may travel with a Georgian ID card, so a passport is not compulsory.

It is important that the name and surname printed on your air ticket match exactly the document you are travelling with. Border rules change from time to time, so it is always worth checking the current requirements from official sources before departure.

Good to know before you fly

  • Time difference: Istanbul is one hour behind Tbilisi. The times printed on your ticket are always local times.
  • Currency: payments in Turkey are made in Turkish lira (TRY).
  • Baggage: the cheapest fares of low-cost airlines usually include hand luggage only. Checked baggage is paid separately, and adding it while booking costs less than adding it later or at the airport.
  • At the airport: plan to arrive about 2 hours before an international departure to check in calmly.
  • Frequency: there are daily direct flights from Tbilisi to both Istanbul airports, and several departures a day during the busy season.

Frequently asked questions

A direct flight takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Warsaw Tbilisi flights

Below we answer, in detail, the questions that always come up when you start planning a trip from Poland to Georgia.

Which airlines fly from Warsaw to Tbilisi?

The Polish flag carrier LOT Polish Airlines operates the non-stop service on this route. LOT flies from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Tbilisi International Airport.

Besides the non-stop flight, you can also reach Tbilisi from Warsaw with one stop along the way.

Most connecting itineraries are offered by the Turkish flag carrier Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines takes you from Warsaw to Tbilisi via Istanbul and is known for its service on board.

Low-cost travellers have another option: flying to western Georgia instead. From Warsaw you can take a Wizz Air flight to Kutaisi and continue to Tbilisi by shuttle bus.

How long is the Warsaw – Tbilisi flight?

The non-stop flight takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes. On a connecting itinerary the total travel time depends on the layover, which varies from one airport and airline to another.

How to find cheap Warsaw – Tbilisi tickets

  1. Book 1.5 to 2 months in advance.
  2. Fly midweek rather than at the weekend — demand is lower on working days, and fares usually follow.
  3. Buy both legs at the same time. Airlines and agencies normally price a return ticket better than two separate one-way tickets.
  4. Use a search engine that brings together almost every airline and flight, so you can compare and book in one place.

Which airlines fly non-stop from Warsaw right now?

The non-stop Warsaw – Tbilisi flight is currently operated by LOT Polish Airlines: roughly six flights a week from Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) to Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), mostly with evening departures, on a Boeing 737 MAX 8. Exact days and departure times shift with the season, so always check your specific date before booking.

One important note: travelling via Kyiv is not possible at the moment — Ukrainian airspace remains closed to civil aviation. The connecting options that actually work today are Istanbul (Turkish Airlines), Vienna (Austrian Airlines) and Frankfurt or Munich (Lufthansa). A connection is often cheaper, but it adds several hours or more to the journey.

Tbilisi or Kutaisi — which option works out better?

The second, often cheaper way into Georgia from Warsaw is the Wizz Air service to Kutaisi International Airport (KUT), which runs almost daily from Warsaw (the schedule changes seasonally).

  • Tbilisi (TBS): you land in the city itself and need no onward transfer, but the ticket costs more.
  • Kutaisi (KUT): the fare is often significantly lower, but you will need about 3.5 hours on the shuttle bus to Tbilisi and a separate fare for it (around 30 GEL). Keep in mind, too, that with low-cost carriers checked baggage is paid for separately.

If Tbilisi or the surrounding region is your destination and you are travelling with luggage, the non-stop flight often wins. If you are heading for western Georgia — Batumi, Kutaisi, Svaneti — landing in Kutaisi is far more convenient.

What to know about both airports

  • Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW): about 10 km from the city centre. There is a railway station right under the terminal — S2 and S3 trains reach the centre in roughly 30 minutes — plus bus lines 175, 188 and 148, and the N32 night bus.
  • Tbilisi International Airport (TBS): about 17 km from the centre. City bus No. 337 runs from the airport into town (Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue, Station Square) for 1 GEL; a taxi or Bolt takes 30–45 minutes.

Time difference and planning your flight

Georgia is on UTC+4 all year and does not change its clocks, while Poland is on UTC+2 in summer and UTC+1 in winter. Tbilisi is therefore 2 hours ahead of Warsaw in summer and 3 hours ahead in winter. Keep that gap in mind when you calculate a layover or arrange for someone to meet you in Tbilisi. An evening non-stop departure means a late-night arrival in Tbilisi, so plan in advance how you will get from the airport.

Visas and documents

Georgian citizens with a biometric passport can stay in Poland, as a Schengen member state, without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period — for tourism, visits or business meetings; work or study requires a separate permit. The rules for service and diplomatic passports have changed, and the EU is also preparing its ETIAS electronic travel authorisation, so check the current requirements on the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular portal before you travel. Polish and other EU citizens may stay in Georgia visa-free for up to one year.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a non-stop Warsaw – Tbilisi flight?
Yes. LOT Polish Airlines operates it around six times a week, and the flight takes up to 3 hours and 40 minutes.

When are tickets cheapest?
Late autumn and winter are low season (outside the New Year and holiday period), while late spring and the summer months are the busiest and most expensive. Booking 1.5–2 months ahead usually gives the best price.

How much baggage can I take?
Your allowance depends on the fare: the cheapest economy fares often include hand baggage only, with checked bags paid for separately. Read what your chosen fare includes before you complete the booking.

Do I need a transit visa when changing planes?
Georgian citizens do not need a transit visa in Istanbul. For European airports — Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich — the same visa-free rules apply as for entering Poland.

How long is the Tbilisi–Warsaw flight?

On a direct flight the journey takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes. On a connecting route the total travel time depends on the length of the layover, which varies from airport to airport.

You can buy your Warsaw flight tickets online quickly and comfortably using our search engine. Simply choose your departure and destination cities, enter the dates you want, and the system will show you every available flight, so you can pick the ticket that fits your budget.

Warsaw airports — where will you land?

Warsaw is served by two civil airports, and it is worth knowing which one your flight arrives at before you book:

  • Warsaw Chopin International Airport (WAW) — the city’s main airport, roughly 10 km from the centre. This is where the direct flight from Tbilisi lands. You can reach the centre by train, city bus or taxi in 20–30 minutes.
  • Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) — about 40 km from the city and used mainly by low-cost carriers. Getting into the centre takes an extra 50–60 minutes and an additional transfer cost.

A Modlin flight often looks cheaper on the ticket price alone, but once the transfer is added the difference narrows — so compare the total cost of the trip before you book.

Up-to-date connecting routes

Please note that Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil aviation since February 2022, so connecting flights via Kyiv are not operating at present. If the direct flight does not suit your dates, these are the connecting options available today:

  • Istanbul (IST) — Turkish Airlines, with several departures a day from Tbilisi and convenient connections onwards to Warsaw.
  • Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) — Pegasus Airlines and AJet, usually with more affordable fares, although baggage is charged separately.
  • Munich (MUC) — with Lufthansa.
  • Vienna (VIE) — with Austrian Airlines.
  • Riga (RIX) — with airBaltic.

A connecting route is often cheaper, but it pushes the total journey time up to somewhere between 7 and 12 hours. Allow at least 1 hour 30 minutes for the connection — and at least 3 hours if you have bought the two flights on separate tickets.

Kutaisi–Warsaw — an alternative route

If you live in western Georgia or you are simply after a cheaper ticket, take a look at the direct flight from Kutaisi International Airport to Warsaw, operated by Wizz Air. The flight takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes. A low-cost carrier’s lowest fare normally covers only a small personal bag, so check the cabin and checked baggage charges separately when booking.

When is the best time to travel to Warsaw?

  • Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) — the most comfortable weather, fewer tourists and moderate fares.
  • Summer (June–August) — warm weather and a full calendar of events, but this is also when demand and ticket prices peak.
  • Winter — the cheapest period, apart from the Christmas and New Year holidays. Temperatures often drop below zero, but in December the city fills with Christmas markets.

Documents and entry rules

  • Georgian citizens holding a biometric passport do not need a visa for tourist travel to Poland or the other Schengen countries — visa-free stays are allowed for 90 days within any 180-day period.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your date of departure.
  • At the border you may be asked for a return ticket, accommodation booking, travel insurance and proof of sufficient funds, so keep these documents to hand.
  • The EU’s new electronic Entry/Exit System (EES) is already in operation at Schengen borders and records entries and exits biometrically, so passport control can take longer at peak times.
  • ETIAS, an electronic travel authorisation for visa-free travellers, is expected to go live towards the end of 2026. Check the rules in force on official sources before you travel.

Useful booking and baggage tips

  • Airfares are dynamic and change from day to day, even on the same flight. If your dates are flexible, compare several departure days.
  • A low-cost carrier’s cheapest fare usually does not include baggage. Add the cost of baggage, seat selection and check-in to the ticket price before making your final choice.
  • Check in online in advance — some airlines charge extra for airport check-in.
  • On a connecting flight, make sure your baggage is checked through to your final destination, especially if you have bought two separate tickets.

Which airport does the direct flight arrive at?
Warsaw Chopin International Airport (WAW), about 10 km from the city centre.

When is the best time to buy a ticket?

Why Did Flight Tickets Become More Expensive in Georgia?

ავიაბილეთების ფასები

Note: the situation described below reflects the period of pandemic restrictions in 2020. To find out what has changed since then and what determines the price of a flight ticket today, see the second part of this article.

The coronavirus pandemic brought a great many changes to aviation. Because of the regulations introduced to prevent the spread of the infection, airlines found themselves facing enormous challenges.

The closure of borders between countries and the sharp reduction in flight frequency hit the industry hardest of all. Georgia, for instance, still had its airspace closed to many countries at the time. Regular air service ran to only three destinations, and most charter flights were arranged simply to take passengers out of Tbilisi.

All of this inevitably changed Aviabiletebi prices. The more expensive flights frustrated travellers, yet there were several reasons why the increase was unavoidable.

Demand was greater than supply

Once airlines were limited in the number of destinations and flights they could operate, it turned out that demand for tickets remained far higher than the seats available. Demand was driven up above all by the many Georgians who wanted to return home after being stranded abroad when the borders closed.

Where airlines had flown a given route daily before the pandemic, they were now permitted only one or two flights a week. On top of that, in most cases a single airline served each route, which left passengers with no choice at all and forced them to accept whatever terms were on offer. It was precisely this combination of strong demand and no alternatives that allowed airlines to sell tickets at high prices.

Commercial flights in one direction only

Another reason flight tickets became more expensive was that commercial flights were operating in one direction only. Certain charter flights from Georgia existed purely to take passengers out of the country. Flights to Minsk, Kyiv and Warsaw, for example, carried passengers only out of Tbilisi.

Airlines were landing empty aircraft at Tbilisi airport and flying them out full. That naturally cost the carriers money, and they recovered it by raising ticket prices.

Premium-priced airlines

The airlines operating in the Georgian market at that time were among the more expensive carriers. Lufthansa, for instance, had never been known for budget fares even before the pandemic, and its service had always been priced at a premium.

As a result, airlines that were already expensive became more expensive still under the new rules and regulations. Why were these particular carriers chosen? It was part of a state strategy aimed at keeping passenger flows to a minimum in order to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. Air travel did resume to some degree, but it was not within everyone’s reach: a one-way ticket cost on average between 1,500 and 3,000 GEL.

Seating arrangements on board

The social-distancing rule introduced to prevent the spread of the infection applied to air travel as well. Under the regulations drawn up specifically for the aviation industry, passengers were seated with the middle seat left empty. Since airlines could not fill their aircraft completely, they sold the available seats at a higher price and recouped the cost of the empty ones that way.

Tickets that were not publicly available

Some airlines did not release their tickets publicly on their websites, which meant those tickets were not available to everyone. The LOT representative office in Georgia, for example, did not put Warsaw tickets into the online system and gave customers no way to buy them for themselves.

The representative office of Aegean Airlines worked on the same principle, reserving the right to sell Athens tickets exclusively for itself. Since demand on these two routes was considerable, anyone wanting to travel had no choice but to approach these agencies to buy a ticket.

The depreciation of the lari

Finally, the depreciation of the lari had always affected ticket prices, but in the circumstances of the time it became far more noticeable. Together with all the reasons listed above, the further weakening of the lari pushed ticket prices up sharply.

What has changed since the pandemic

Pandemic restrictions were lifted long ago and Georgia’s aviation market has fully recovered. Borders are open, regular flights serve dozens of destinations, and competition between airlines is far stronger than it was in 2020. It is this competition that has brought back fares which seemed unimaginable during the pandemic.

The biggest change has taken place in the low-cost segment. Kutaisi International Airport has established itself as a base for budget carriers — Wizz Air, Pegasus Airlines, Belavia, FlyArystan and others operate from there. Kutaisi is now Georgia’s second-largest airport: in 2024 it handled more than 1.7 million passengers.

Full-service airlines still dominate at Tbilisi airport, but the number of routes keeps growing steadily there too: recent seasons have added new direct flights to European cities, among them Copenhagen, Cologne and Frankfurt. Batumi airport, meanwhile, focuses mainly on seasonal summer destinations.

What determines the price of a flight ticket

The price of a ticket is never a random number — it is made up of several constant factors that work the same way now as they did before the pandemic:

  • The cost of fuel — jet fuel is one of an airline’s largest expenses and often accounts for around a quarter of operating costs. Changes in the oil price usually show up in ticket prices with a lag of several months.
  • Competition on the route — when several airlines serve the same route, the price almost always falls. A single carrier with a monopoly has the opposite effect.
  • Seasonality — summer, the New Year period and school holidays are peak times. The cheaper periods are the second half of autumn and the stretch from mid-January to spring.
  • When you book — airlines sell tickets in so-called fare classes: the cheapest class sells first, and the fuller the flight becomes, the more the remaining seats cost.
  • Airport and government charges — a significant part of the ticket price never reaches the airline at all; it goes on airport, security and state fees.
  • The exchange rate — much of an airline’s costs are in dollars (fuel, aircraft leasing, maintenance), so movements in the lari feed directly into prices quoted in lari.

How to find a cheaper flight ticket

  • Book ahead: one to three months in advance is about right for European routes, and three to six months for long-haul flights.
  • Compare both airports — flying from Kutaisi is often considerably cheaper than from Tbilisi, though you should factor in the time and cost of getting to the airport.
  • Be flexible with dates: midweek flights are usually cheaper than Friday and Sunday departures.
  • With low-cost airlines, always work out the final price including baggage — checked bags, seat selection and sometimes even check-in are charged separately.
  • Consider flights with a connection: a single stopover is often noticeably cheaper than flying direct.
  • With traditional airlines a return ticket is often cheaper than two one-way tickets bought separately.

The market in numbers: how supply is changing

Ticket prices are ultimately set by the balance between demand and supply, so it helps to see the scale of the market. According to the Civil Aviation Agency, Georgia’s airports served more than 6.4 million passengers in the first nine months of 2025 — 14% more than in the same period a year earlier, while the number of flights grew by 18%.

  • Tbilisi — more than 4 million passengers, growth of roughly 12%;
  • Kutaisi — more than 1.4 million passengers, growth of roughly 10%;
  • Batumi — almost 1 million passengers, growth of roughly 32%.

What matters here is that the number of flights is growing faster than passenger numbers. That means the supply of available seats is increasing, and growing supply is usually a factor that pushes fares down. It is exactly why European routes today offer prices that would have been unthinkable in 2020.

What is included in the ticket price — and what is not

Tickets for one and the same flight can sell at several different prices, and the difference lies not in the seat but in the conditions of the fare. Today almost every airline sells tickets in several tiers:

  • The cheapest fare (Basic, Light, Economy Saver) — normally covers only hand luggage or a small bag. The ticket is usually non-refundable, and changing the date is either impossible or expensive.
  • The mid-range fare (Standard, Classic) — adds checked baggage and often seat selection; date changes are allowed for a fee.
  • The flexible fare (Flex) — the most expensive option, which allows date changes free of charge or for a nominal fee and often a refund as well.

With low-cost airlines this logic is even more pronounced: the base price often includes nothing but one small bag, while checked baggage, seat selection, priority boarding and sometimes even airport check-in are charged separately. So when you compare two “cheap” tickets, always work out the final price with baggage included — a ticket from a traditional airline that includes baggage from the outset often works out cheaper in the end.

Passenger rights when a flight is cancelled or delayed

The ticket price also buys you the rights that protect you when something goes wrong. Georgia applies a rule based on European regulation covering compensation and assistance for passengers in cases of denied boarding, flight cancellation and long delays.

  • Cancellation or denied boarding — a passenger may be entitled to compensation of 250 euros on flights up to 1,500 km, 400 euros between 1,500 and 3,500 km, and 600 euros on flights over 3,500 km. If the airline offers an alternative flight and the delay is short, the compensation may be halved.
  • Delay — from 2 hours on short flights, 3 hours on medium-haul and 4 hours on long-haul routes, the airline must provide meals, refreshments and a means of communication. If the flight is postponed to the next day, it must also provide a hotel and transport to the airport.
  • Delays of more than 5 hours — the passenger has the right to demand a full refund of the ticket or to be re-routed to the final destination. A refund must be made within 7 days.

You are not entitled to compensation if the cancellation or delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances — severe weather, closed airspace or a security threat, for example. Even then, however, the airline remains obliged to look after passengers: to provide meals and, if necessary, a hotel.

Where to buy: the airline website or an aggregator

The best way to search for a price is an aggregator — it shows you on a single screen which airline is offering which fare on a given date. When it comes to buying, it is worth comparing both options:

  • If the price is the same, buying straight from the airline’s website is more convenient — changing dates, adding baggage or requesting a refund is handled directly with the carrier, without an intermediary.
  • An aggregator or agency is particularly useful for complex itineraries, when several airlines are involved in one journey.
  • Before buying, check who is issuing the ticket and what the refund terms are — some platforms deduct their own service fee from any refund.
  • Before paying, check once more that the passenger’s name and surname match the travel document exactly — correcting these details later is a paid service with almost every airline.

Airport expansion and what it means for ticket prices

In the long run, fares are also shaped by how many flights the infrastructure can handle. In the summer of 2026 a large-scale expansion project began at Tbilisi International Airport: the operator, TAV Airports, is investing roughly 150 million dollars, which should raise the airport’s annual capacity to around 10 million passengers.

For passengers this has a very practical meaning: the more flights an airport can accommodate, the greater the chance that several airlines will appear on the same route — and competition is the single biggest factor pushing prices down. At the same time, temporary changes in the terminal are to be expected while construction work is under way, so it is worth allowing extra time when you arrive at the airport.

Payment and currency: where the extra money goes

The final price of a ticket is not determined by the fare alone — part of it is often added at the payment stage:

  • Currency conversion. If the fare is quoted in euros or dollars while your card is in lari, the conversion is carried out either by your bank or by the site itself, which offers to “pay in lari”. The latter is dynamic currency conversion, and its rate is usually less favourable than your bank’s.
  • Card fees. Some airlines and agencies add a separate payment fee depending on the type of card; this amount often appears only on the final screen.
  • Pre-selected extras. Insurance, seat selection or priority boarding may already be ticked during the booking process — check what is included in the total before you pay.
  • The price on the first screen and the last. Compare the amount shown in the search results with the amount you actually pay — the second is the real price of the ticket.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the price of a ticket change several times a day?

Airlines use dynamic pricing: the seats on each flight are divided into several fare classes, and as soon as a cheaper class sells out the system automatically moves to the next, more expensive one. That is why the price can change within a single day.

Does the price really go up if I keep searching for the same flight?

This is a common belief, but the main reason prices rise is not your search history — it is the cheaper fare classes selling out. If you want to be sure, check the same flight from another device or in your browser’s incognito mode.

How far in advance should I buy a ticket?

There is no universal rule, but experience shows that the best fares on medium-haul European routes are sold one to three months ahead. In peak season — summer and the New Year period — it is worth booking even earlier.

Is flying from Kutaisi really cheaper?

As a rule, yes — Kutaisi is served mainly by low-cost airlines and the base fare is lower. Your final cost should include baggage and the journey to the airport, though; sometimes a direct flight from Tbilisi works out better.

Does the lari exchange rate affect ticket prices?

Yes. A large share of airlines’ costs is in foreign currency, so whether the lari strengthens or weakens is reflected in fares quoted in lari — even when the airline’s own pricing policy stays unchanged.

Am I entitled to compensation if my flight is cancelled?

In most cases, yes. Under the rules in force in Georgia, a passenger whose flight is cancelled is entitled to compensation of between 250 and 600 euros depending on the distance, unless the cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances (weather, closed airspace, a security threat) or the airline notified you of the change in advance and offered an alternative flight.

Which is cheaper — a low-cost or a traditional airline?

It depends on how you travel. If you fly with hand luggage only and are flexible on dates, a low-cost airline is almost always cheaper. If you need checked baggage, or your route involves a connection, a ticket from a traditional airline — which includes baggage and a guaranteed connection from the start — often turns out to be the better deal.

My ticket is priced in euros — should I pay in lari?

When a site offers to “pay in lari”, it is using dynamic currency conversion, and that rate is normally less favourable than your own bank’s. In most cases it works out cheaper to pay in the ticket’s original currency and leave the conversion to your bank.

How early should I get to the airport?

The usual recommendation is two hours before short international flights and three hours before long-haul departures. In peak season, and while construction work is going on at the airport, an extra margin is particularly worthwhile.
