- Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) — about 40 km from the city and used mainly by low-cost carriers. Getting into the centre takes an extra 50–60 minutes and an additional transfer cost.
A Modlin flight often looks cheaper on the ticket price alone, but once the transfer is added the difference narrows — so compare the total cost of the trip before you book.
Up-to-date connecting routes
Please note that Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil aviation since February 2022, so connecting flights via Kyiv are not operating at present. If the direct flight does not suit your dates, these are the connecting options available today:
- Istanbul (IST) — Turkish Airlines, with several departures a day from Tbilisi and convenient connections onwards to Warsaw.
- Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) — Pegasus Airlines and AJet, usually with more affordable fares, although baggage is charged separately.
- Munich (MUC) — with Lufthansa.
- Vienna (VIE) — with Austrian Airlines.
- Riga (RIX) — with airBaltic.
A connecting route is often cheaper, but it pushes the total journey time up to somewhere between 7 and 12 hours. Allow at least 1 hour 30 minutes for the connection — and at least 3 hours if you have bought the two flights on separate tickets.
Kutaisi–Warsaw — an alternative route
If you live in western Georgia or you are simply after a cheaper ticket, take a look at the direct flight from Kutaisi International Airport to Warsaw, operated by Wizz Air. The flight takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes. A low-cost carrier’s lowest fare normally covers only a small personal bag, so check the cabin and checked baggage charges separately when booking.
When is the best time to travel to Warsaw?
- Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) — the most comfortable weather, fewer tourists and moderate fares.
- Summer (June–August) — warm weather and a full calendar of events, but this is also when demand and ticket prices peak.
- Winter — the cheapest period, apart from the Christmas and New Year holidays. Temperatures often drop below zero, but in December the city fills with Christmas markets.

- Georgian citizens holding a biometric passport do not need a visa for tourist travel to Poland or the other Schengen countries — visa-free stays are allowed for 90 days within any 180-day period.
- Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your date of departure.
- At the border you may be asked for a return ticket, accommodation booking, travel insurance and proof of sufficient funds, so keep these documents to hand.
- The EU’s new electronic Entry/Exit System (EES) is already in operation at Schengen borders and records entries and exits biometrically, so passport control can take longer at peak times.
- ETIAS, an electronic travel authorisation for visa-free travellers, is expected to go live towards the end of 2026. Check the rules in force on official sources before you travel.

- Airfares are dynamic and change from day to day, even on the same flight. If your dates are flexible, compare several departure days.
- A low-cost carrier’s cheapest fare usually does not include baggage. Add the cost of baggage, seat selection and check-in to the ticket price before making your final choice.
