Update: is there currently a direct flight from Kutaisi to Riga?
Wizz Air flew the direct Kutaisi–Riga route for several years, but the airline pulled out of Riga completely in May 2025 – and its very last flight from Riga was to Kutaisi. As a result, there are currently no direct flights from Kutaisi to Riga, and the journey is only possible with a connection. How to get to Riga without a direct flight
There are several convenient ways to get to Riga:
- Kutaisi – Vilnius – Riga. Wizz Air flies direct from Kutaisi to Vilnius. From Vilnius you can take a bus to Riga (about 4 hours) or a short airBaltic flight.
- Connecting in another European city. You can fly Wizz Air from Kutaisi to, for example, Warsaw and connect there to a flight to Riga.
- Direct flight from Tbilisi. The Latvian airline airBaltic flies nonstop from Tbilisi to Riga. If you don’t have to depart from Kutaisi, this is often the fastest way to get there.
Tips for travelling with a connection
- If you buy the two flights separately, leave plenty of time between them – ideally at least 3–4 hours – because the second airline is not responsible if your first flight is delayed.
- With separate tickets you will have to collect and re-check your bags, so check both airlines’ baggage rules and size limits in advance.
- Compare the total cost of the trip – sometimes the direct flight from Tbilisi works out cheaper and more convenient, even after you factor in getting to Tbilisi.
