In May 2026, after a six-year break, the direct overnight train between Tbilisi and Baku started running again. It operates daily in both directions: departure from Tbilisi is at 21:00 and arrival in Baku is the next morning at around 06:24, which puts the journey at roughly nine and a half hours. It is a good option if you would rather save the cost of a hotel night and arrive in the city first thing in the morning. If time matters more, the one-hour flight is still by far the fastest way to travel.
